Shopify speed optimisation

We make slow Shopify stores load fast on phones, without breaking the design.

  • Theme code review and clean-up (unused scripts, duplicate fonts, render-blocking CSS)
  • Image compression, correct sizing and lazy loading
  • App audit, so you know which apps are slowing the store and which are safe
  • Core Web Vitals fixes (LCP, CLS, INP) measured on real phones
  • Before and after PageSpeed reports you can keep

Why Shopify stores get slow

Most stores start fast. Then the apps arrive. Each one adds its own script, and many keep loading even after the app is removed. Add a few oversized hero images, a slider, three font families and a theme that loads everything on every page, and a store that should load in two seconds takes eight.

Google measures this. So do your customers. A one-second delay on mobile costs sales, and from 2024 Core Web Vitals have been part of how Google ranks pages.

What we do

We start with a full measurement: PageSpeed Insights, Lighthouse on a real mobile profile, and the Shopify theme inspector. That gives us a list of the actual causes, in order of impact. Then we fix them one by one, on a copy of your theme, and measure again after each change. Changing one thing at a time is slower, but it is the only way to know what worked and to avoid the layout shifts that a bulk “optimise everything” plugin causes.

Typical fixes: removing leftover app code from theme.liquid, deferring scripts that are not needed above the fold, serving images at the right size for each screen, replacing a heavy slider with a lightweight one, preloading the hero image and the main font, and trimming CSS that no page uses.

Our own store

We built and run Kupo, a Shopify store with 1,030 products, a mega menu, live search, two languages and a full set of custom sections. It scores 99 on desktop and 92 on mobile in PageSpeed Insights. That is the kind of result we work towards for clients.

Packages

Basic covers theme clean-up and image optimisation for a store with few apps. Standard adds the app audit, Core Web Vitals fixes and a written report. Premium is for large stores with many apps and custom code, and includes a 30-day re-check after you publish.

Questions people ask

Will you break my theme?

No. We never touch the live theme. All work happens on a duplicate. You preview it, and you publish it yourself when you are happy. If anything looks wrong, the live store is untouched.

What score will I get?

We promise a clear improvement, not a fixed number. Most stores we see start at 20 to 50 on mobile and end at 70 to 90 or higher. Apps you choose to keep set the ceiling, and we tell you which ones.

What do you need from me?

Collaborator access to your store through our Shopify Partner account. We never ask for your password.

How long does it take?

Basic jobs take 2 to 3 days. A full store with many apps takes about a week.
